Paid Internship in Germany

This internship supports GIZ’s work with the German Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) to advance global health policy and strengthen Germany’s contribution in national and international processes. As part of this, GIZ hosts the Global Health Hub Germany (GHHG) — a network bringing together stakeholders from science, civil society, business, policy, and development to promote collaboration and knowledge exchange in global health.

Key Responsibilities

As an intern, you will be expected to:

  • Support the GIZ team in implementing project activities with a focus on the Global Health Hub Germany
  • Assist in planning, preparing, and carrying out the GHHG Annual Conference (July 2026)
  • Manage content for the digital platform for hub members, including planning engagement like surveys
  • Write articles for the Hub’s website and newsletter
  • Help prepare and deliver a series of events on global health for policymakers and related stakeholders
  • Support the organization and documentation of internal and external events (e.g., steering committee meetings, webinars)
  • Assist in member services, community support (e.g., policy papers), and partnership building
  • Respond to inquiries via the Hub’s information inbox
  • Perform related administrative and coordination support tasks

Who They’re Looking For

The ideal candidate should have:

Educational Background

  • University studies in health sciences, social sciences, political science, economics, or similar fields
  • Preferably with a focus on public health, international/global health, or international relations

Experience & Skills

  • Experience or interest in development cooperation and collaboration with ministries or networks
  • Skills in communications, public relations, and event organization
  • Understanding of multi-stakeholder networks is a plus
  • Strategic, analytical, and interdisciplinary thinking
  • Strong organizational abilities and initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in both German and English

Eligibility & Requirements

  • You must be currently enrolled in a degree programme, or your degree must have been completed no more than six months before the start of the internship
  • Alternatively, it must be part of a formal academic training or continuing education programme

Compensation & Benefits

  • The internship is paid with a monthly gross remuneration of €2,349
